About Chosen to Achieve
Picture2
Chosen to Achieve was started during the 2002-2003 school year as a joint project of the African American community and the St. Paul Public School district. The program was created to address the "achievement gap" between African American students and their peers. Since its creation it has grown into a program that serves nearly 300 students annually.

Chosen to Achieve is such a success that St. Paul Public Schools asked us to expand our services to the Somali, KaRen, American Indian, and Latino communities. This broader focused program is called Bridges to Success: Mentoring for Transitional Years.

Research shows that youth with mentors are more likely to:

-Attend school more regularly
-Have a better attitude toward school and behave more positively
-Get better grades in school
-Show more respect toward family and other adults
-Improve relationships with their parents
